Hiram Bingham III
Hiram Bingham the Third (November 19, 1875 – June 6, 1956) was a 20th century explorer from the United States, and History Professor at Yale University. He was also a member of the United States Army, and latter a federal senator, and the governor of Connecticut. He was accredited with the discovery (re-discovery) of the ruined city of Manchu Picchu in 1911. Bingham is cited as a possible basis for Indiana Jones .

Bingham died in Washington, DC; and is burried at the Arlington National Cemetary.
