Malcom x
Malcolm X (May 19, 1925 – February 21, 1965), born Malcolm Little, who latter took on the name El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz following his pilgrimage to the city of Mecca, was an active promoter of Black Nationalism during the Civil Rights Movement. Unlike some who saught integration, Malcom saught an ethnocracy of the Negro. Due to this, he has often been attacked as a racist. He has also been called militant due to his critizism of passive resistence. In 1965, Malcom X was assassinated by Thomas Hagan, who at the time was going by the name Talmadge Hayer. Thomas stated his reason was Malcom's public critizism of Elijah Muhammad, one of Malcom's mentors, and then leader of the Nation of Islam.
