Phillips Cd-i is a fourth generation home video game console and digital video recorder released by Phillips in 1993.

About it[]

In 1990, Phillips was working with Nintendo, along with Sony to release a CD addon to the to Nintendo's Super Nintendo Entertainment System but due to licencing disagreements with Nintendo, the CD add on was scrapped and Sony released the PlayStation on its own with Phillips releasing the Cd-i.

Phillips then released the Cd-i, and released one Mario game and three Legend of Zelda games, but they were criticized heavily. The recording devices was one of the main things for the Cd-i, as it can record videos.

Largely considered a video game console, the Cd-i didn't sell very well in the market, selling little under a million units. Phillips then discontinued the console in 1995.
