One day at the Krusty Krab, Squidward noticed that SpongeBob was not filling orders, so when he went to investigate, he discovered that SpongeBob had one Mr. Krabs described as the "1,000 YARD STARE" and they both discovered a Calendar in his hat that had the Date of that day circled and that a Food critic was coming for a visit, so Mr. Krabs, and SpongeBob were both in shock as The critic, Gene Scallop walked into the doors, as he was having his first glimpse of the Restaurant, Squidward rudely asked if he was coming in or out, and drove him away with other rude comments, Mr. Krabs stopped him and served him a Krabby Patty, he took one bite and left the restaurant in a hurry, Mr. Krabs lost hope. SpongeBob, Krabs and Squidward watched as the critic gave his review on the Krusty Krab, only to soil it,he said that the Krusty Krab"smelt like the rear-end of a goat. Baaaaa! Phhhpt! as the customers heard the review they began to leave in displeasure, but Gene said that the Krusty Krab was a big success because of the Krabby patty, and he said that SpongeBob was no square when it came to cooking, ending with a Good review, the customers came back pleased and prepared to eat. The next day SpongeBob came to see that there was a new sign at the Krusty Krab, reading the Krusty Sponge, he also found a long line, and Squidward in a SpongeBob costume as the Krusty Sponge's Mascot. SpongeBob found that his new job was to run a train outside the Krusty Krab, which Mr. Krabs was charging people to ride it, SpongeBob was the driver, after he was out of energy from driving, Nat, and Sally where displeased with the results of their ride, and ordered a riot with SpongeBob, he then ran to find Mr. Krabs had gotten all kinds of new products, customized to be like SpongeBob, he also discovered that the New Spongy patties that were supposed to be a meal (Actually tainted meat) was making people sick, and Krabs was ordered to court by one of the customers which were actually a FBI agent. Mr. Krabs was about to go to prison, when he made a deal with the Judge, whom was a huge SpongeBob fan, he ordered Squidward to drive the Judge around and around on the Train, and he didn't go to prison, while SpongeBob happily worked back in his regular post, the Krusty Krab was back to normal.

Cultural References

  • The scene where the Spongy Patties are infecting customers in SpongeBob-like zombies is a parody of the franchise, The Sizzler. Where Sizzler's burgers are affecting customers and can not eat for eight days.
  • The Krusty Sponge's monument of a giant SpongeBob holding a giant Krabby Patty is a parody of the Big Boys Restaurants.
  • The man in the beginning who is of low intelligence and is obese is similar to Fred Fredburger from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, of whom writer/storyboard artist C.H. Greenblatt had voiced.
  • The way SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs was nervous that Gene Scallop would give them a negative review is similar to the Disney film Ratatouille.
  • When Mr Krabs is introducing customers to the train ride, he is dressed up as The Fat Controller (Sir Topham Hatt)

Trivia

  • Gene Scallop has a similar appearance to the DJ in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.
  • The popularity that Spongebob has in this episode may be a reference to the popularity that the character actually has in the real world.
  • The sign next to Squidward (when wearing a SpongeBob costume) says As Seen on TV, a reference of the episode.
  • The SpongeBob costume that Squidward wears is probably based on the actual SpongeBob costume since he has no use of his arms like the real costume, they are pretty much like sticks
  • Even though the kid is a boy, Mr. Krabs calls him a little girl
  • Gene Scallop is a parody of Gene Shalit, who obviously guest starred in this episode
  • Spongy Patties are rotten Krabby Patties.
  • The judge's last name is "Whopper", a parody of the hamburger sold by Burger King, which makes sense as Burger King often sets out SpongeBob toys when there's a big SpongeBob event. "Whopper" is also a fishing term for a very large fish, especially one that got away.
  • The music at the train ride is a carnival version of the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song.
  • When Squidward tells the kid that his arms can't move, though he can move it when "Whopper" rides to the fun train (which is found at the near-end of the episode).
  • This is the second time where Mr. Krabs is seen bathing (and or dining) in or with money.
  • In the courtroom scene, Gene Scallop says: "We, the jury, find the defendant, Eugene H. Krabs, guilty of all charges." The line that is typed into the closed-captions, however, is: "We, the jury, find the defendant, Eugene A. Krabs, guilty of all charges.
  • The changes Mr. Krabs made were:
    • New Krusty Sponge sign
    • Krusty Sponge Fun Train
    • Krusty Sponge napkins
    • Tangy Spongey Sauce
    • Mild Bobby Sauce
    • SpongeBob drinking straws
    • Coasters
    • Bibs
    • SpongeBob ice cubes
    • Spongey Patties
  • 49th time Patrick doesn't appear.
  • 43rd episode with its name in it.
  • Sally had a male voice in this episode.
  • The calendar in Spongebob's hat had a lion on it, which is the Zodiac sign Leo, which inticates it was probably July or August 23rd.
  • In Bahasa Malaysia version the prison's word is replaced with river.
  • Some fishes from Krabs vs. Plankton is seen in the court. That might be because the producers might had reused the court backgrounds.
  • One could question how legal it would be for Krabs to bribe the judge with Squidward's services, yet Mr. Krabs is not shown to be in trouble with the law.
  • The combination of spots and yellow skin is a reference to chicken pox and yellow fever which both show symptoms on a person's skin.
  • At court, it's illegal to talk when you're not allowed to.
  • Why wouldn't Mr. Krabs make Squidward drive the Fun Train in the first place instead of have him make the patties and make SpongeBob drive the train? Squidward always burns the patties, but SpongeBob is good at it! And if Squidward did have to make the patties, why didn't he take off the SpongeBob costume first? Maybe it was stuck?
  • When the customers are getting angry because SpongeBob stopped driving the Krusty Sponge Fun Train, you can see a guillotine and noose, which implies they were going to kill him.
  • When it's revealed that Spongebob is petrified because he's worried about an important food critic's visit, Squidward says, "Only a complete moron would worry about what some critic has to say". But in other episodes, Squidward himself worried about what other critics had to say.
  • People thought they were zombies before, in Once Bitten.
  • Funny, back in the episode Born Again Krabs, Mr. Krabs gets poisoned himself by eating an old Krabby Patty.
  • When Squidward was in the Spongebob costume, there was a sign that said As Seen On TV. Which could be a refence to the episode As Seen On TV.
