The Virtual Boy was a failed attempt by Nintendo to introduce 3-dimensional graphics for video games. Created during the development of the Nintendo 64, the Virtual Boy was far ahead of its time. The monochromatic design of the Virtual Boy meant that the only two colors visible on the system were black and red. There were also reports that the games caused seizures and other medical problems. Eventually, Nintendo cancelled the Virtual Boy in 1995. The idea was used later in the Nintendo 3DS.
